Fantasia in F minor op. 49
Sa Chen is widely considered as one of the most talented pianists from China and is admired all over the world. She first gained international fame in 1996 after winning the Leeds International Piano Competition, she was then the youngest contestant with a memorable performance with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra directed by Sir Simon Rattle. In the following years she also won the Crystal Award at the Van Cliburn Competition, and came fourth at a prestigious Chopin piano contest. She was the first pianist to have ever been awarded in all these three major competitions.
In this recital, she proposes the music by Fryderyk Chopin with an Italian premiere of Instants d’un opera de Pekin, a 2000 text by acclaimed living composer Qigang Chen.
